From KWTX-TV, Waco:
WASHINGTON (November 5, 2009)—The suspected gunman behind the deadly shooting Thursday at Fort Hood was an Army psychiatrist who spent six years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center before he was transferred to Fort Hood in July, officials told The Associated Press.
The officials, who had access to Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's military record, said he received a poor performance evaluation while at Walter Reed.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because military records are confidential.
The Virginia-born soldier was single with no children.
He was 39 years old and was a graduate of Virginia Tech University, where he was a member of the ROTC and earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry in 1997.
He received his medical degree from the military's Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., in 2001.
He did his internship, residency and a fellowship at Walter Reed.
Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, said Hasan was about to deploy overseas.
Hutchison said she was told about the upcoming deployment by generals based at Fort Hood, but it was unclear if he was headed to Iraq or Afghanistan and exactly when he was scheduled to leave.
UPDATE: The Washington Post reports that Hasan was a devout Muslim who attended prayer services seven days a week and was opposed to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. |

From the Daily Mail.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1225627/12-killed-shooting-rampage-U-S-army-base.html
Army colleagues said Hasan had fervently expressed his opposition to the war.
Retired Colonel Terry Lee who worked with the major said: 'He was so outspoken I once said to him, "Look, you got to cool it".
'He was reacting with open glee at the death of some soldiers by a suicide bomber. I told him, "You might not agree with this but this is the army and we are here to serve the country.'
Mr Lee said Hasan repeatedly said: 'Muslims should rise up against the aggressors.' |

There is so much I could say about this event, but I will just state that there is a female hero at the base, who was wounded in the exchange of fire as she tried to bring this murderer down. |

This is really fishy. The guy kills 12 people and wounds 31 with just two handguns? The math doesnt add up, someone would have disarmed or killed him while he was reloading.
Also, it was originally reported that at least two others had been taken into custody and witnesses reported more than one shooter. They later reported that the detained "suspects" had been cleared and that Hasan had acted alone.
I understand that not everyone on an army base is walking around with guns, but either there was some confusion and some of the wrong people got shot by responders, or this extremist piece of camel crap had help and its being covered up so as not to alarm everyone that an army base was attacked.
Either way, I hope this POS dies a slow agonizing death. His arrogant idiot cousin they interviewed on fox news can get deported back to the sandbox too. |

I see what you are saying Beo and agree to a point. I just cannot seeing them releasing the two others if they thought they had ANYTHING to do with it. Ya know?
I think this is horrible! Of course, there are a bazillion rumors going around and who knows what is exactly the truth or not. So it is hard to say exactly what this idiot was thinking. HOWEVER....where there is smoke there is fire. There is at least some truth in the internet postings and the conversations.
My question.....did those who saw the internet postings and/or had conversations with this guy do anything to report them?
I have heard "experts" say this had nothing to do with religion. REALLY??? WTF? He was saying the Muslims should rise up against the aggressors. Ummmm........ummmm.......since when is Muslim NOT a religion? Also...I have heard he was saying "Allah" during the shootings. Did I miss a memo???? |

Late Report: One if the two hand guns was a fully automatic. Uzi, Mac-9 or 10 with 18 round mags. In a crowd, these machine guns can cause a lot of damage. How the Army has changed. In my tour, a poor performance report meant no promotion and sometimes a reduction in rank. So this guy was promoted from Capt. to Major while his performance was questionable? I had a rather high ranking security clearance. The FBI went to 'visit' my neighbors and school friends. I guess the background checks have to adhear to the new PC policy.

Some other clues: federal law enforcement had been watching him for about six months because of posts he made on the Web praising suicide bombers. He walked around wearing Arab dress when he was off duty. And a day or two before the shooting, he apparently gave away a lot of his belongings, saying he didn't need them any more.
Another Virginia Tech, with one missed opportunity after another? (This guy actually graduated from Virginia Tech, but long before Cho.) |

I guess the military has to be PC and not "profile" either! Maybe this will change their minds a bit! |

Beo, I agree.
I would be surprised if there wasn't some friendly fire injuries.
Everyone wearing fatigues, lots of confusion, things happening very fast....
I'd bet it's almost inevitable there friendly fire incidents took place. |
